    EARLY LIFE – Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo

    Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo was born into a very notable and well-respected family of Chief Julius Babasanmi and Comfort Fatoyinbo on the 1st of January, 1976. As a result of his birth that falls on New Year Day, his parents decided to name him Abiodun in Yoruba, which is translated in English to mean “Born On A Festive Season”. Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo is a proud Yoruba man who’s from Kwara State, North Central part of Nigeria. He happens to be born and raised in Ilorin by his parents in the person of Chief Julius Babasanmi and Comfort Fatoyinbo. He is also the first child of Chief Julius Babasanmi and Comfort Fatoyinbo, his family can be seen as a family of six which includes his parents and four children, he being the first and his three (3) lovely siblings.

    Although, his parents had done their best in both teaching him good morals and wanting the best for him in life. But on getting to the university Biodun Fatoyinbo forgot what was taught to him as a child and therefore finding himself among the wrong sets of friends that ended up in him joining a secret confraternity known as the Black Axe Confraternity, which he serves as the Chief Priest of the cult when he was in the university. Biodun Fatoyinbo and his fellow cultists then terrorized the lives of innocent students and staffs of the university. As a result of his immoral and criminal acts, the university management had to withdraw his admission and rusticate him from the school while in his 300 level. After this experience he determined within his heart that he was going to achieve his previous vision and dream of becoming a graduate before getting into crimes and other immoral acts. Therefore, this new passion was responsible for he being enrolled to study at University of Benin. It was while he was at his second and also his new university that he encountered the new life of Christ and his own life was transformed and he gave his life to Christ to be his Lord and person Salvor. His journey in the Christian faith started and he was going all-out with a spirit of fervency, serving God both tirelessly and wholeheartedly. He was then a member of the choir in the church where he worshipped, and he was  also an instrumentalist gifted with ability to play both the drums and guitar.

The first music group (The Avalanche ) was created in the year 2008, and while the second music group (The Gratitude) was established in the year 2016. The Gratitude’s mandate is to provide the music world/industry a common, mainstream and conventional music with quality spiritual message attached. The Gratitude was formed as a brand of gospel and pop genres. On the other hand, The Avalanche’s mandate is to compose, write and perform deep soaking spiritual worship and praise songs. The Avalanche has being doing well in terms of fulfilling its mandate, and also had the privilege of ministering in many gospel gatherings across the world. The Avalanche has gone further to perform gospel songs with top music ministers such as Tasha Cobbs, Tye Tribbett, Don Moen and host of others.

    The Gratitude became very pronounced and as well as a household name after they released one of their single titled; “Rabababa-Eh”. This particular single “Rabababa-Eh” trended and also became one of the top choice praise songs played, listened to and performed in Nigerian churches.     CONTROVERSY – Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo

    Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and his ministry had records of issues that later became talk of the time and also lots of controversies. Though, most of these controversies are related to sexual immoralities.

    Ese Walter in the year 2013, a one time member of ministry (COZA) came out and revealed that she once had a week-long affair with Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. Ese Walter admitted that Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo did not rape her as the case maybe but that they just had an affair, though he was already married as at the time of this affair. Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo later came out to deny these trending allegations, although the news was already a talk for many in the public domain and on social media. But himself and his church (COZA) came out of that controversies just fine.

    However in May 2019 Busola Dakolo’s case trended, barely six year after Ese Walter controversies. One of Nigerian popular singer in the person of Timi Dakolo, cleverly accused Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of sexual immorality when he stated that, “… your pastor leaves a trail of broken women, sexually abused and mentally strangled… he handpicks his victims and ruins them”. This Timi Dakolo said in a post he made on Instagram and further made his points clear by accuse COZA Pastor of not only sleeping with his wife but that he also raped her (Busola Dakolo). Busola Dakolo was one time committed member in COZA and she is also a famous photographer who is well known within and outside the nation. This particular news created more controversies and got the public talking and also made the social media space very busy than even the case of Ese Walter. Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo also came out to reply to this particular allegation and swore openly that he has never raped anyone before in his life, not even when he was an unbeliever. On account of the accusations against him and the time for him to take proper actions, he decided to step down from the leadership position of the church till August 2019. Thereafter, in November 2019, Busola Dakolo’s case filed against him was dismissed in Abuja court as an empty and purely sentimental claims without concrete evidence, and by the way the claimed act happened over twenty years ago.

    Although, so many Nigerian celebrities reacted to this particular issue and as well went further to make their comments across different social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Everyone with their personal opinions on the matter, though some percentage of the public were in support of Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, while the rest percentage of the people are fully on the side of Busola Dakolo with the trending hashtag #istandwithbusola
